Sharing knowledge has become an important part of my professional journey. I enjoy opportunities to discuss cybersecurity with students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and people from different academic and technical backgrounds.
I particularly appreciate presentations that become conversations. Questions from the audience often introduce new perspectives and remind me that cybersecurity is not exclusively a technical discipline.
Anatomy of a Cyberattack: From Cybersecurity to Digital Forensics
University of Costa Rica (UCR) — Guanacaste Campus | September 2026
In September 2026, I had the opportunity to deliver a presentation to law students at the University of Costa Rica's Guanacaste Campus.
My presentation, Anatomy of a Cyberattack: From Cybersecurity to Digital Forensics, was part of an academic activity officially titled Evidencia digital, investigación forense y responsabilidad jurídica (Digital Evidence, Forensic Investigation, and Legal Responsibility).
The session explored the relationship between cybersecurity incidents, cybercrime, digital forensic investigations, and the legal challenges associated with digital evidence.
What I enjoyed most was the students' participation. Their questions led to a lively discussion, and we eventually ran out of time before we could address all of them.
It was a rewarding opportunity to explore how technical cybersecurity concepts intersect with law and the responsibilities of professionals working in different disciplines.
NICE Framework and NIST Cybersecurity Framework
Universidad Latina de Costa Rica — Heredia | October 18, 2023
Event organized with the Cybersecurity Cluster
In October 2023, I delivered a presentation introducing two important resources developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST): the NICE Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
The event was hosted at Universidad Latina's Heredia campus, bringing together students, entrepreneurs, university representatives, and other participants in a hybrid format.
During approximately 60 minutes, I demonstrated how the NICE Framework can help organizations understand cybersecurity work roles, tasks, knowledge, and skills. I also introduced the NIST Cybersecurity Framework as a flexible approach to understanding and managing cybersecurity risk.
Rather than relying exclusively on slides, I navigated NIST's official online resources, demonstrating how the frameworks could be explored and applied through practical examples.
The event brought together 12 in-person and 30 online participants and continued with a collaborative exercise exploring possible applications of both frameworks.
One of the challenges discussed was the availability of Spanish-language resources for organizations and professionals interested in adopting these frameworks in Costa Rica and Latin America.
NIST Cybersecurity Framework: Understanding and Managing Cybersecurity Risk
Consejo Consultivo de Internet de Costa Rica (CCI) | 2023
In 2023, I had the opportunity to present the NIST Cybersecurity Framework to the Consejo Consultivo de Internet de Costa Rica.
The presentation introduced the framework and its value in helping organizations understand, organize, and manage cybersecurity risk.
It was a particularly meaningful experience because it brought cybersecurity into a broader discussion with members of Costa Rica's Internet and technology community.
Why I Share Knowledge
I believe strongly in cybersecurity and STEM education.
Cybersecurity affects people and organizations far beyond technical departments. Students, business leaders, legal professionals, public institutions, and everyday technology users all benefit from understanding its principles.
Preparing a presentation also helps me learn. Explaining a concept clearly requires understanding not only how something works, but why it matters.
That philosophy is also at the heart of YellowBird Security: learning, applying, explaining, and sharing knowledge.
